Care You Can
is an in-home Respite Care Agency that works with children, teens, and adults on the Autism spectrum and other related developmental disabilities.

Respite Care
Short-term, non-medical care and supervision—provided in-home (or sometimes out-of-home)—that gives family caregivers relief from day-to-day caregiving responsibilities while ensuring the individual is safe and supported.

Personal Assistance
Hands-on support that helps a person complete everyday daily-living tasks they would normally do (at home and in the community), designed to increase independence, choice, and control.

Day Care
Supervised care for a child (generally less than 24 hours per day) when a parent/guardian is working or in employment-directed education—often including after-school care—focused on safety, supervision, and routine support.
At Needed Respite Care, our mission is to provide families with the essential respite they deserve while caring for a loved one with a disability. While this relief is temporary, our support is dependable, continuous, and unwavering, designed to make your daily routines simpler and more manageable. We follow the four principles of Person-Centered Care: ensuring care is personalized, coordinated, and enabling, while treating every individual with dignity, compassion, and respect. Our model focuses on the person rather than their disability, tailoring our support to meet their unique needs.

Needed Respite Care was founded in 2014 by Executive Director Sam Bakhoum. With a master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and over 30 years of experience working with children and adults with special needs, Sam is dedicated to providing high-quality support. He strongly advocates for the four principles of Person-Centered Care, recognizing that every family has a unique set of needs that requires a personalized and individualistic approach.
Many of our clients are served through the North Los Angeles County Regional Center and the Frank D. Lanterman Regional Center. We are vendored with both regional centers through the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to provide Respite Services and Personal Assistance. While we are currently vendored with these two regional centers, we may be able to support individuals served by other regional centers as well. To find your local regional center, please use the DDS Zip Code Lookup.
